The OTT giant Netflix recently dropped the first look of The Crown season 5. Ever since the streaming titan started releasing the finalized cast members’ names to the world, fans have been holding their breath to get a glimpse of Queen Elizabeth II in a new avatar. Finally,The Crown lovers can start breathing well again. The Crown’s official Twitter account has released the first image of of the Oscar-nominated actress Imelda Staunton portraying the queen. In the picture, the 65-year-old Staunton looks regal Queen Elizabeth II, dignified dressed in a mustard yellow shirt adorned in pearl necklace, holding her hand bag in forearm. What the costume team nailed is the Queen’s iconic hair cut.
The Irish-English actress Imelda Staunton received the Bafta for Best Actress and was nominated for an Oscar for her performance in the historical drama film Vera Drake.
Many viewers will recognize her through her performances in Pride, Return to Cranford, The Girl, A Confession, Flesh and Blood and the Downton Abbey film. As well as her noticeable role in the Harry Potter Chronicles.

Morgan’s first pitch for the project included six seasons. Netflix content head Ted Sarandos confirmed this on November 2016. Season 6 will be the continuation of the events of season 5.
In an interview with Variety, show maker Peter Morgan said initially the plan was to “take ‘The Crown’ into the 21st Century”. But, he realized, “now that we have begun work on the stories for season five, it has become clear to me that this is the perfect time and place to stop.” Fans have been hoping to see the next generation of royals – Prince William, Kate Middleton, Prince Harry, and Meghan Markel, the show makers have confirmed it’s highly unlikely.
So, When Season 5 Will Be Aired?
The award-winning show will soon be back with a fresh season.
As we stand, the series is under production. As a result, the regal drama is likely to be released only in or after 2022. The Covid-19 pandemic is not the reason for the filming stoppage. We’ve heard rumor that the 2020 filming hiatus was always planned as part of the preparation and release timetable.
