If there is any other series that is more feminist, more steamy and showcases the early 1900s Regency era’s society in a better way – I dare you to name it. It’s none other than Shonda Rhimes’ first Netflix deal – Bridgerton. Released during the Pandemic when viewers are thirsty for new good content like a Jacobin Cuckoo, season 1 of Bridgerton has been a massive hit. It has been watched in 82 million households all over the world. Needless to say, the world is already craving for more of the Bridgertons.
Bridgerton has been Renewed for a Sequel?
In early January, Netflix announced the Bridgertons are coming back soon in season 2. Those who are aware, the announcement came in the form of yet another gossip column in Lady Whistledown’s Society Papers. According to the announcement, the team is starting the production in the spring of 2021 for shooting season 2, focusing on the elder Bridgerton brother, Viscount Anthony Bridgerton, and his introduction in the British social season.

What Bridgerton Season 2 Will Be All About?
Let us tell you first that this series is based on Julia Quinn’s best-selling series of novels, Bridgerton. As the series goes, season 1 was based on the first book Duke and I, revolving around the eldest Bridgerton daughter Daphne and her relationship with Duke Simon Basset. According to Phoebe Dynevor, who played Daphne Bridgerton in Season 1, “We’re passing on the baton to the lovely (Jonathan Bailey), who plays Anthony, and that will be the story arc of season 2.”
Season 2 will be focusing on the eldest (living) Bridgerton’s son, Viscount Anthony Bridgerton. In season 1, we have seen his quite colorful character and his wandering ways with a prostitute. As the story goes in book 2, The Viscount Who Loved Me, Anthony has chosen his wife-to-be. But the only obstacle is his fiance’s older sister, Kate Sheffield. According to Julia Quinn, she is ‘the most meddlesome woman ever to grace a London ballroom’ and a ‘spirited schemer,’ is determined to stop the betrothal of her beloved sister with the most ‘reformed rake’ of all. It’s a classic enemies-to-lovers story.
